Privacy Policy

For the BaroAware mobile apps (client edition and CMS edition), the BaroAware cloud service and this website. Version of 8 September 2026.

Who we are

The data controller is SC MICRO-ELEMENTS S.R.L., Arad, Romania (“we”). Contact: [email protected].

BaroAware is an intrusion-detection sensor that measures air pressure inside a room. The mobile app pairs your phone with your sensors and delivers alarm notifications. The CMS edition is used by installers and monitoring companies to configure sensors and their alarm receiver.

What the app collects

The app has no user account and does not ask for your name, e-mail or phone number. When you pair the app with a sensor by scanning its QR code, the following is stored on our server:

Phone model namee.g. “Pixel 8”, as reported by Android. Shown in the sensor’s list of paired phones so the owner can recognise and remove it.
Push notification tokenAn identifier issued by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging for this app installation. Needed to deliver alarm notifications. It is not a hardware identifier.
App access tokenCreated at pairing, stored on your phone, kept only as a cryptographic hash on the server. It links the phone to the sensors you are allowed to see.
Sensor identifiers and settingsThe serial numbers of the sensors paired with the phone, their armed/disarmed state, detector settings and, in the CMS edition, the alarm receiver configuration (receiver name, account code).
Usage timestampsPairing time and time of last use, for security and housekeeping.
Installer identity (CMS edition only)When an installer links the app with the installer code issued by their company, the phone is associated with that installer’s user name inside the company’s portal.

What the sensors send

Sensors transmit technical measurements: air-pressure variations, detection classes (activity, wind, impulse, alarm), confidence scores, device health and network status. These records describe the physical state of a room, not a person. They are stored with the sensor’s serial number so that alarms can be delivered and reviewed by the sensor owner and, where the owner has chosen one, by their monitoring company.

What we do not collect

Why and on what legal basis

Who processes data on our behalf

Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging)Delivery of push notifications to your phone. Google receives the notification token and the notification content (sensor name, event type, time).
Contabo GmbH, GermanyHosting of the BaroAware cloud service, in the European Union.
CloudflareHosting of this website only. The website sets no cookies of ours.
Your monitoring companyIf configured by you or your installer: receives alarm events for your sensor. It is an independent controller for the monitoring service it provides to you.

We do not sell data and do not share it with anyone else.

How long we keep data

Security

All traffic between the app, the sensors and the server is encrypted (TLS). Access tokens are stored hashed. Each phone can only see the sensors it has been explicitly paired with. Installers can only act within the portfolio assigned to them by their company.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing based on legitimate interest. To remove your phone from a sensor, use “Remove sensor” in the app. For anything else write to [email protected]. You may also complain to the Romanian supervisory authority, ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro).

Children

The app is a professional security tool and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

We will publish any change to this policy on this page, with a new version date. Material changes are also shown in the app.
